Gordon Zhao graduated from the 5 year medical program at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine with a Bachelor of Chinese Medicine and is a one of the youngest registered Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine in BC. He is licensed to practice Chinese Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture along with other TCM modalities.
He emphasis on helping his patients understand why discomfort, illness or disease manifest in their lives and how to help them heal in a holistic and balanced approach. Additionally, Gordon has a strong focus on prevention and in the maintenance of good health despite the many demands and challenges of a busy lifestyle.
His passion for healthcare started at a very early age due to his family background, his father was a medical doctor that started his own hospital and specialized in the comprehensive medical and surgical care of the eyes and vision while his mother was importing insulin pumps and other top of the line medical equipment from the USA into China during the early 90s. Gordon grew up in the Kerrisdale neighbourhood, during his teenage years his mother became a marketing partner for an acupuncture clinic and that’s when he fell in love with the world of Chinese Medicine. He pursued studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a physician at the age of 17 in China, undertaking extensive training and internships during his five-year study in Beijing. He studied under many great doctors & teachers during his time in Beijing and spent his final year internship in Dong Fang Hospital. In September of 2018, Gordon was part of the team that brought over the first International Conference on Chinese Medicine in Respiratory Diseases to Canada.
When Gordon is not in the clinic, he can be found in the Richmond trails or dog parks with his golden retriever Miloh.
